BBQ Smoke

If you’re at all like me just the smell of hickory smoke from a BBQ makes me hungry! It takes me to a happy place where smoked pork shoulder and our special Slow Smoke BBQ sauce are in abundance. For you maybe it’s a family reunion. Tailgating before a pro sports event. There’s no disputing that the aroma of something takes us back to THAT place.

Let’s go back in time. Imagine that you’re walking through a dusty town in Israel in the year 200 B.C. The smell of smoke would be associated with something very different, something incredibly important. The sacrifice and forgiveness of sin. YOUR sin. MY sin.

What would my reaction be at the hint of that sacrificial smoke? I would hope that it’d be to drop to my knees with a heart of thankfulness for what has been done for me. What about you?
